Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19 Omicron panic: Netherlands, South Africa, United Kingdom

December 20, 2021

While the Omicron strain of Covid19 was first sequenced in South Africa, it was found independently in the Netherlands in November. So, while Netherlands was one of the European countries which caught the latest sudden European wave (mainly featuring Delta), most likely the Omicron strain was already spreading there; indeed the main constraint on the growth of Omicron in Netherlands was probably Delta.

Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Scandinavia, Poland and Australia

December 17, 2021

Analysis by Keith Rankin. Sweden Re Covid19, Sweden remains the enigma country that almost nobody wants to talk about, because the Swedish scientists may have been correct all along (although the Swedish bureaucrats certainly had significant shortcomings in the early months of the pandemic). The first chart shows five waves of covid in Sweden. The ... <a title="Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Scandinavia, Poland and Australia" class="read-more" href="https://eveningreport.nz/2021/12/17/keith-rankin-chart-analysis-covid19-scandinavia-poland-and-australia/" aria-label="Read more about Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Scandinavia, Poland and Australia">Read more</a>

December 15, 2021

Analysis by Keith Rankin. United States of America The first United States chart shows both recorded covid deaths and excess deaths. (For all countries more recent ‘recorded covid deaths’ data is available.) Generally we see a broad match between the two series in terms of timing, though for the first two United States covid waves ... <a title="Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: United States and South Korea as the pandemic approaches two years" class="read-more" href="https://eveningreport.nz/2021/12/15/keith-rankin-chart-analysis-covid19-united-states-and-south-korea-as-the-pandemic-approaches-two-years/" aria-label="Read more about Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: United States and South Korea as the pandemic approaches two years">Read more</a>

Keith Rankin Analysis – Science, Scientists, and Scientism

December 6, 2021

Analysis by Keith Rankin. Science, in the not-so-recent-past, has often had a bad press. It’s been personified, particularly by the political left, as Frankenstein, as agents of capitalism, classical liberalism, colonialism, sexism (yang over yin), eugenics, and god-like pretension. More recently though, in the zeitgeists of climate change awareness and covid, it’s had an unusually ... <a title="Keith Rankin Analysis – Science, Scientists, and Scientism" class="read-more" href="https://eveningreport.nz/2021/12/06/keith-rankin-analysis-science-scientists-and-scientism/" aria-label="Read more about Keith Rankin Analysis – Science, Scientists, and Scientism">Read more</a>

Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Phases of the Pandemic in Different Countries

December 3, 2021

Analysis by Keith Rankin. The following charts break the pandemic (23 months total; 21 months of mortality outside of China) into three 7-month periods: early, middle (covers the northern winter), and recent (mainly delta). The countries included are those which report ‘total deaths’ on a weekly basis. Most of these have reported total deaths to ... <a title="Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Phases of the Pandemic in Different Countries" class="read-more" href="https://eveningreport.nz/2021/12/03/keith-rankin-chart-analysis-covid19-phases-of-the-pandemic-in-different-countries/" aria-label="Read more about Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Phases of the Pandemic in Different Countries">Read more</a>

Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Spain as a country of interest

November 26, 2021

Analysis by Keith Rankin. Spain copped Covid early; as early as Italy, presumably, like Italy, directly from Wuhan, China. While the main spread of Covid19 in Europe was via the Italian and Austrian alps, the early spread of covid to the United Kingdom may have been largely from Spain. The first chart shows that for ... <a title="Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Spain as a country of interest" class="read-more" href="https://eveningreport.nz/2021/11/26/keith-rankin-chart-analysis-covid19-spain-as-a-country-of-interest/" aria-label="Read more about Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Spain as a country of interest">Read more</a>

Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Austria and the Pandemic of the Undervaccinated

November 19, 2021

Analysis by Keith Rankin. This pandemic keeps surprising many people. If scientists had spent more time studying coronaviruses circulating as common cold pathogens, they would not have been surprised that immunity is short-lived. SARS 2003 was a red flag that should have led to much more research on other (endemic) human coronaviruses. Western Europe is ... <a title="Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Austria and the Pandemic of the Undervaccinated" class="read-more" href="https://eveningreport.nz/2021/11/19/keith-rankin-chart-analysis-covid19-austria-and-the-pandemic-of-the-undervaccinated/" aria-label="Read more about Keith Rankin Chart Analysis – Covid19: Austria and the Pandemic of the Undervaccinated">Read more</a>

Keith Rankin Analysis – ‘Influenza’ Pandemics in New Zealand’s Past

November 18, 2021

Analysis by Keith Rankin. On Tuesday (16 Nov) I was concerned to hear this story on RNZ’s Checkpoint (National distances itself from ex-MP after video with discredited academic). My concern here is not particularly with the “discredited academic”, although no academic should suffer this kind of casual public slur. (Should we go further and call ... <a title="Keith Rankin Analysis – ‘Influenza’ Pandemics in New Zealand’s Past" class="read-more" href="https://eveningreport.nz/2021/11/18/keith-rankin-analysis-influenza-pandemics-in-new-zealands-past/" aria-label="Read more about Keith Rankin Analysis – ‘Influenza’ Pandemics in New Zealand’s Past">Read more</a>
