The World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC) kicked off tonight in New Zealand with a formal pōwhiri ceremony hosted in the Sir Paul Reeves at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT).

The traditional welcome was led by AUT students and staff and the conference is bringing together media and journalism educators from around the world for a week of discussions around global media challenges and education.
